Startup Guru

What is it?

What is this program?

Not sure of what something is in your Startup area? Well if you click on a program in the startup list you can sometimes find out more about a program by looking at the Version Information area at the bottom of the program window. You can also right click and select "Version Info" from the popup menu which will popup a dialog box with the program information. From this dialog box you can ALSO browse to any other program on your system to get its information - this action does NOT affect what is being auto loaded by "Startup Guru".

Using this feature might give you a better handle on knowing who is running the application in question.

Online Search

Not all of the programs running in your startup area are obvious. You can find out more about an entry in the startup area by right clicking on it and choosing the Online database search menu item. This will take you to a public website where you can read up on the program in question and decide for yourself what you should do with it.

Viewing Entry Areas

You can view the actual location of an entry, either in a folder or in the registry by right clicking on a startup item in either the active or disabled list. There you will see a menu item to either view in RegEdit or to open Windows Explorer to the folder where the program is stored.

If you view the registry entry be very careful not to change anything if you are not familiar with how the registry is set up.
